Kente Ceremony
Kente graduation celebrations are held on college and university campuses across the United States. “Kente” is a brilliantly colorful fabric that is woven in Africa and is worn in ceremonies, graduations and other special events. The ceremony is an opportunity to recognize the academic and personal achievements of the graduates, and to encourage them to accept the challenge to continue to strive for excellence in their personal, academic and professional careers. Participating students will receive a Kente stole to wear at commencement. All graduating students who have identified themselves as having a diverse ethnic background are invited to participate.
